Why do we lie and is it really worth it?

Image
I once heard a preacher say that if you lie to a fellow human being, you're simply saying that you fear the person more than you fear God! But is this really true? In our subconscious mind, we want to believe that we fear God more than we fear man but sadly our actions are a huge contrast.  Lying starts from one little lie to the next and before you know it, lying has become a lifestyle. Talking about the issue of lying - everyone has had his/her own share of it! Be it a man lying to a lady only to have his way with her or a lady putting on excessive make - up, flamboyant weaves and attires that accentuate body parts just to get the man of her dreams! Some even say that the reason why they continue to lie is because people cannot handle the truth!

Lessons to learn at this time!

Everyone is quick to point out the great deficiencies in the Nigerian system  but if we think deeply, there is a great lesson to be learnt here.  1) As a person, how are you ruling your daily life? Leaders are not made in a day! One flaw we can see from our Nigerian President is the lack of leadership and ownership of a situation to, at the very least, find a solution to the present problem. So I thought to myself, how can I learn from this situation?

Crush your demons

This post is specifically for single men and women. In particular, Single Men - you think because you're single you can be a flirt, player, womaniser and it won't tell on you when you get married? Think again!!!  As a single, you are only practicing the habits that will make or mar your destiny in the future! So don't be fooled! Look at the statistics or may be people around you that were womanisers when they were single, how many of them really turn a new leaf when they marry? You might think they've changed only for you to discover their secret lives and you'll be shocked!

Confidentiality, a gift rarely given these days!

Image
Confidentiality - It means keeping information safe and private. Fine, we get it in some health sectors, political parties, churches etc! I'm coming down to our level. Do you and I offer our neighbour the gift of confidentiality? Or is it just a license to spread the news you were suppose to protect in the first place?

Tradition, tradition, tradition!

As an African, culture and tradition is a very big deal! For example, in a country like Nigeria where we have three different tribes - Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo.  Every tribe sees their culture as the commandment every one that hails from it should obey.

Leaders, be warned!!!

Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, “The teachers of religious law and the Pharisees are the official interpreters of the law of Moses. So practice and obey whatever they tell you, but don’t follow their example. For they don’t practice what they teach. They crush people with unbearable religious demands and never lift a finger to ease the burden. “Everything they do is for show. On their arms they wear extra wide prayer boxes with Scripture verses inside, and they wear robes with extra long tassels. And they love to sit at the head table at banquets and in the seats of honor in the synagogues.

Can you perceive the times?

And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate, (Isaiah 6:9-11 KJV).  The senses of a man are to make him aware of his environment, flee from danger, know the right path to take so that he will not be destroyed! Hence, a sign of a person/family/community/church/nation about to be ruined or wasted is when the senses do not function properly!!!
